Native Landscape Crew Lead
About the Position
At Native Edge, Native Landscape Crew Leads are responsible for running and managing the field crew on our native landscape installation and maintenance projects. Duties vary from project to project, but generally consist of managing installation and maintenance crews, coordinating field work schedules, reporting to Native Edge leadership on project details, and assisting with project management activities. This is a remote position, meaning there will be no official office to report to. Instead, the crew lead will report directly to the jobsite(s) which are being worked on in a given week. Crew lead will meet with Native Edge leadership frequently throughout the season to review projects, goals, and strategies.
Position Requirements
The following items are the base requirements for consideration for the position:

Ability to lead and oversee a team in a positive and effective manner.

Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
-
Landscaping or gardening experience with working knowledge of Michigan’s native plants.

Ability to work outdoors for extended periods of time in variable weather conditions.
-
Able to lift 50 pounds and perform moderately strenuous outdoor activities (planting large trees).
-
Able to complete instructed tasks unsupervised as well as in a team setting.
-
Ability to operate landscape maintenance equipment, such as weed whackers and lawn mowers.
-
Valid driver’s license in the state of Michigan and access to reliable transportation.

The following items are not required but are considered additional desirable skills:

Landscape construction experience.
-
Landscape design experience.
-
Ability to drive a truck and trailer.
-
Pesticide applicator’s license or ability to acquire one.

Compensation and Schedule
Competitive wage based on experience and qualifications, starting at $23/hr. This is a part-time, hourly position. Typically, hours will range from 15-30 hours per week, but may be up to 40-50 hours per week during the busy season. The field season generally starts around April 15, and continues through the end of October, which is when this position will be available.

Native Landscape Technician
About the Position
At Native Edge, Native Landscape Technicians are responsible for all aspects of native landscape installation and maintenance. Duties vary from project to project, but generally consist of native garden installation, native garden maintenance (weeding), tree and shrub planting, seed mix installation and maintenance, and associated duties related to these tasks. This is a remote position, meaning there will be no official office to report to. Instead, the crew will report directly to the jobsite(s) which are being worked on in a given week.
